Bright Sparks presents the author and illustrator team, Síne Quinn and Margaret Anne Suggs, for a free, online, family friendly Creative Celebration of Spring on St Patrick’s Day, Wednesday, 17 March, at 11am. Suggs will present some drawings that are based on simple shapes but combine to make a complete drawing. Next Quinn will help you compose your own creative story to accompany your new illustrations!
Suitable for ages 7+. Family friendly.
Materials Needed: A3 drawing paper (several sheets per person) and a selection of coloured markers.
Margaret Anne Suggs was recently awarded an Arts Council Bursary for her illustration work on #IRememberBeingAChild, and serves as a Director for both Illustrators Ireland and IBBYIreland. She is the illustrator for the best-selling, award-winning Pigín of Howth series with Kathleen Watkins. Her most recent book is Holy Shocking Saints: The Extraordinary Lives of Twelve Irish Saints with Síne Quinn. This highly illustrated book is filled with fascinating stories on the lives of Irish Saints.
Síne Quinn holds an MPhil in Children’s Literature and is Managing Editor at Cubicle 7 Entertainment. A Children’s Books Ireland book doctor and creative writing teacher with the Bookmarks programme at TCD, she also provides editorial and writing support to publishers. Her first book Holy Shocking Saints: The Extraordinary Lives of Twelve Irish Saints with Margaret Anne Suggs is available in book shops nationwide.
In Deirdre Sullivan’s second NovelTeens masterclass, she guides us through building a sustainable writing practice, divulging hints and tips that we can use to kickstart a daily routine. She highlights the importance of reading other writers, as well as setting small, achievable goals and sharing your work with your peers.
