In this Bright Sparks Creative Burst explore hidden stories by using everyday junk found around the house to inspire us to create some original pieces of work. With a little inspiration from Sarah Crossan’s #wearethepoets postcards, Sarah Webb uses blackout poetry and highlights words to make a poem. Download the materials to create some poetry or prose of your very own!
Edna O’Brien Young Writers Bursary Information Session
So, what exactly is the Edna O’Brien Young Writers Bursary?
Join us on Tuesday 16 March at 5pm for a webinar info session on The Edna O’Brien Young Writers Bursary. Hear all about the Bursary including how to apply and what to expect if selected to take part in the week-long programme. We will be joined by some young people who took part in last year’s Bursary too!
This session is for young people interested in writing and stories, parents/guardians, teachers, youth workers – anyone who is, knows, or works with young people aged 15 to 17 years old and would like to see them take part in this fantastic opportunity. You can sign up for free here!
In this episode, Deirdre Sullivan, author of the upcoming Savage Her Reply — a retelling of The Children of Lir — gives us the nuts and bolts of retelling tales, and explains how words can’t be fixed if they aren’t there.
