There is a famous saying: ‘A picture paints a thousand words’. On today’s Bright Sparks Creative Burst, Sarah Webb uses photographs, poetry and art to inspire us to create delicious and original stories of our very own!
Mythmakers at MoLI Summer Story Camp
Daily 10am – 1pm
Are you aged 9 – 12 and have a brain that’s PACKED with ideas? Want to learn how to turn them into a story that will make your readers laugh, cry and possibly vomit? Join award-winning author Dave Rudden at his brand-new writing camp – Mythmakers at MoLI. Learn all the rules of writing but also when you should be breaking them and doing your own thing! Meet special guests – game writers, screen writers, horror writers – and hear their top tips for getting started in your own writing career. And, most importantly, spend three days writing your heart out and learning how to share that work with the world.
Dave Rudden is the author of the Knights of the Borrowed Dark series, two Doctor Who anthologies, and serves as DCU’s 2022 Writer-in-Residence.
Try rewriting your story from scratch, says Darren Shan, as he guides us through the editing process.
In this Bright Sparks Creative Burst explore hidden stories by using everyday junk found around the house to inspire us to create some original pieces of work. With a little inspiration from Sarah Crossan’s #wearethepoets postcards, Sarah Webb uses blackout poetry and highlights words to make a poem. Download the materials to create some poetry or prose of your very own!
