A talk on the work of Seosamh MacGrianna by Míchéal Ó hAodha.

Míchéal Ó hAodha is the translator of the classic semi-autobiographical road-trip novel Mo Bhealach Féin, first published in 1940, and a cult classic in the Irish language. It is now finally available in translation as This Road of Mine. Its author, Seosamh Mac Grianna (1900-1990) was one of the most important 20th century writers in modern Irish. Along with Máirtín Ó Cadhain and Seán Ó Ríordáin, he broke new ground in his successful fusion of the oral Gaelic tradition with a modernist literary perspective, all of this against the background of the emergent Irish state.

Is é Míchéal Ó hAodha (Ollscoil Luimnigh) a d’aistrigh an t-úrscéal dírbheathaisnéiseach Mo Bhealach Féin a foilsíodh sa bhliain 1940, leabhar a bhfuil stádas cultais aige i measc léitheoirí na Gaeilge. Tá fáil anois fá dheoidh ar an leagan Béarla de, This Road of Mine. Duine de mhórúdair na hÉireann éSeosamh Mac Grianna (1900-1990). Ar nós an Chadhnaigh agus an Ríordánaigh, ceannródaí ab ea é a raibh an traidisiún béil laistiar de ach fós dearcadh nua-aoiseach aige.
