‘Filleadh ón Antartach’

Words Lightly Spoken

4'15"

Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh reads her poem ‘Filleadh ón Antartach’, and the English translation, ‘Return from Antarctica’, by Billy Ramsell, in this episode of Words Lightly Spoken.

Subconsciously inspired by South Pole explorer and fellow Kerry native, Tom Crean, Ailbhe’s poem tells a story of a man who travels to Antarctica only to fall in love with the sound of the ice and its landscape. The poems are from her collection The Coast Road, published by the Gallery Press.

Words Lightly Spoken, a podcast about poetry from Ireland, is a Rockfinch production, funded by the Arts Council of Ireland / An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
