Statement on the Death of Stephen Joyce
Statement on the Death of Stephen Joyce

The Museum of Literature Ireland is greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Stephen James Joyce, the grandson of James Joyce. James Joyce, whose work is celebrated throughout MoLI, studied here at Newman House, in what would become University College Dublin.
We were very pleased to mark this long connection with the Joyce family in MoLI’s beautiful garden, where a rose garden honours the memory of Stephen Joyce’s wife, Solange Raytzin Joyce, and to have been in close contact with Stephen throughout the years leading up to the opening of the Museum in 2019.
As ‘time’s wan wave’ brings an end to Stephen’s long and distinguished life, we extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
