An tOileánach is an autobiography by Tomás Ó Criomhthain (1855-1937) of daily life on the Blasket Islands. The book was originally published in 1929. Among the Blasket books, the Islandman is probably the most widely translated. This is a new first complete version of An tOileánach/The Islandman. It is authoritatively edited from the original manuscript in the National Library. The editor, Prof. Seán O Coileain, set out to produce a text in the style, language and form which Tomás Ó Criomhthain intended.
