Presented in association with MoLI, this hugely exciting immersive theatre experience is coming in November is produced by two of Ireland’s leading theatre companies – ANU and Landmark Productions. Directed and adapted by Louise Lowe, this will be a uniquely intimate way for small audience groups to experience Joyce’s masterpiece.

Q The show is sold out. Is there a waiting list?
There was overwhelming demand for tickets and all performances are now sold out. If you’d like to be notified of any potential ticket returns, please register your interest here. We will contact you if any tickets become available.
Q The show is described as ‘immersive’. What does this mean?
A In contrast to a conventional theatre show, the immersive nature of The Dead means that the audience will move with and around the actors through a number of historic rooms in 85 St. Stephen’s Green. You will witness the actors up close as they bring the characters of James Joyces’s masterpiece to life before your very eyes.
Q What does small audience groups mean?
A The capacity for each show is limited to 75 to allow audiences to experience The Dead in a uniquely intimate way.
Q What is the running time for the show?
A The running time is approximately 80 minutes with no interval.
Q Will there be programmes available to purchase?
A Yes, there will be programmes available to purchase before the show at the reception at MoLI. Price €6 each.
Q Will food be served during the performance?
A While the performance takes place at a Christmas party, The Dead is not a dining experience for the audience.
Q Am I required to participate in any way?
A You are not required to participate but you may be addressed by the actors from time to time. There is never any obligation to respond or participate. You can simply observe and enjoy the performance.
Q How accessible is the performance? Will there be seats?
A. While MoLI’s exhibitions are wheelchair accessible, the route for The Dead is not. The performance involves navigating a number of staircases and periods of standing. Limited seating is available in some of the rooms.
Q Are there ISL (Irish Sign Language) interpreted performances?
A There are two ISL performances on 11th December.
Q Will there be a cloakroom?
A You can leave your belongings at the front desk at MoLI before the show starts. As you'll be moving around during the performance, we recommend avoiding bringing large items with you. Belongings are left at your own risk.
Q Can I come to the show by myself?
A Absolutely! This experience is perfect for solo attendees. You'll be part of a group from the moment you arrive, making it easy to enjoy the show with or without a companion.
Q Is there a dress code for The Dead?
A There's no strict dress code for the show. Feel free to dress up and embrace the festive party atmosphere if you'd like, but it's not mandatory. Comfortable attire is perfectly fine.
Q What is your latecomer policy?
A Due to the immersive and intimate nature of this production, latecomers will not be admitted. Please plan your journey in advance and allow extra time to arrive on time, especially considering the busy time of year in the city centre.
Q What time do doors open prior to the performance?
A The audience enters MoLI prior to the start of the performance. For daytime shows, MoLI is open Mon-Sun from 10.30am to 5.30pm. For evening shows, doors will open 30 minutes prior to start time.
