Celebrate Culture Night at MoLI (Museum of Literature Ireland), where Irish writing comes alive. Open free from 5pm–9pm on Friday 18 September, visitors can explore the museum after hours, wander through its historic buildings and gardens, and discover Irish literature in an immersive and inspiring setting.
Housed in UCD Newman House on St Stephen's Green, MoLI brings the stories of Ireland's greatest writers to life through exhibitions featuring manuscripts, letters, first editions and rare literary treasures. Don't miss the chance to see Copy No. 1 of James Joyce's Ulysses, Joyce's own first printed copy, displayed in the very building where he studied.
Visitors can also experience Wild Earth, MoLI's exhibition exploring the relationship between Irish writing and the natural world, featuring more than 90 texts spanning from the sixth century to today.
Step outside into the peaceful Readers Garden, home to a 200-year-old ash tree featured in Joyce's graduation photograph and connected to Maeve Binchy's Circle of Friends. Browse the MoLI Bookshop for Irish books and crafts, or relax in The Commons Café, open throughout the evening with food and drinks available to purchase.
The MoLI team will be on hand to welcome visitors, share stories about the museum and provide information about MoLI Membership, which supports the museum while offering year-round access, exclusive events and other benefits.
