Joyce's Century

100 Years of Irish Literature

James Joyce was perhaps the most important novelist of the early 20th century. He paved the way for an astonishing succession of Irish writers: some of the world’s best-known and most critically acclaimed literary figures have come from this small island, including four winners of the Nobel Prize in Literature – and that figure does not even include Joyce!

So what makes Irish writers so special? Is it how we follow the rules, or how we break them? Here at MoLI we are celebrating a constellation of Irish writers who shine brightly in the world of literature and whose works have been loved by generations. Every time you visit us you will be greeted by new faces, words and voices.
