Accessibility Statement

We are committed to making our website accessible and usable by as many people as possible, including those with disabilities. This statement applies to the website moli.ie and all associated digital content and services offered by the Museum of Literature Ireland (MoLI).

Measures to support accessibility
In developing and maintaining our website, we have applied the following practices:

  • We follow recognised web standards and guidelines such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 (Level AA) to the best of our ability.

  • We aim to provide clear and consistent navigation, meaningful headings, and structured semantic markup so that assistive technologies can interpret the content.

  • We ensure that images include alternative (alt) text where appropriate, and that any multimedia has text transcripts or captions where feasible.

  • We use colour contrast, proper sizing, and responsive layouts so the site works across different device types and for users with vision impairments.

  • We test with a variety of browsers, screen-readers and devices, and we continually monitor for accessibility issues.

  • We seek feedback from users and monitor accessibility performance to identify improvements.

Limitations and known issues
While we strive for full accessibility, there may be some limitations, for example:

  • Some older PDFs or documents may not fully comply with accessibility standards.

  • Some third-party plugins or embedded content may fall outside our control and may not meet all accessibility guidelines.

  • We cannot guarantee perfect compatibility with all assistive technologies or all future browser/device combinations—but we endeavor to keep improving.

Feedback and contact information
If you encounter any accessibility barrier on our website, please let us know so that we can attempt to provide an alternative format or fix the issue. Please contact us by either:

We aim to respond to your inquiry within 3 working days.

Ongoing commitment
We will regularly review and update this accessibility statement and our website to improve accessibility over time.
